Wag-A-Lot puppy classes run differently to many others as we believe this stage is about so much more than teaching basic obedience or simply socialising with other dogs and people. It is the foundation of a lifelong relationship, built on trust, confidence, and clear communication between you and your puppy. Through positive, reward-based training, you learn what motivates your puppy as an individual, how they learn best, and how to guide them through new experiences with confidence.
Just as importantly, effective training helps puppies develop the emotional regulation skills they need to cope with everyday challenges, building resilience and reducing stress. By nurturing these essential life skills from an early age, you are not simply raising a well-behaved dog—you are helping your puppy grow into a confident, emotionally balanced, and well-adjusted companion who is equipped to thrive in the world.

Our puppy classes are designed to equip you and your puppy with skills that seamlessly transfer into everyday life. Rather than focusing on teaching a long list of cues, we build everything around six key foundations that underpin lifelong learning and a strong relationship.
Each class will focus on one foundation at a time and will run as follows:
Week 1: Designed to provide an overview of the essentials of puppy training, creating a training plan, reward structure and understanding of dog body language to set you and your puppy up for success.
Week 2: Kick off the foundations with teaching the principles of calmness
Week 3: Continue the foundations by teaching lots of exercises that build impulse control & frustration tolerance
Week 4: Loose lead walking - teaching different techniques to start and perfect loose lead walking
Week 5: Recall - teaching the steps to achieve a strong and reliable recall, in all environments, all of the time
Week 6: Tying it all together & teaching how to appropriately socialise your puppy with people and dogs.
Puppy classes give you the tools, but the real work happens at home. As a result, every member of puppy class will be invited to an online platform where you can post videos of your training, ask questions as often as you like and be part of a supportive group of people too! I will respond to all your questions and videos each day - all included in price.
